1970 280SEL Fuel filter replacement, need to bleed?
I just replaced fuel injectors and looking to replace the fuel filter located in the engine compartment before i fire it up.
I'm wondering if replacing the filter is as simple as removing the canister, felt gaskets, clean and replace with new filter? At the moment I only have the Haynes manual which makes it sound this easy but want to ask the forum, do i need to do anything further? bleed the system? Thanks much! |

No need to do more. It's a circulating system so it will self-bleed. If you replaced the injectors you may have a slightly slow first start given that the injector lines will be full of air instead of gas.

Great, thank you. I'm still a little timid working on things and just want to be careful.
I'm looking forward to changing the fuel filter and firing it up with these replacements; great to know about the possible slow start. |
