M116 3.5 Throttle Position Switch Removal&Installation
Hi Everybody,
I would like to remove my current throttle position switch and install new one. Could you please tell me how to remove this switch? Do I need to remove throttle housing completely from intake manifold or I can replace without removing it? Thank you very much in advance.. Kutluhan Last edited by Jazzenco; 04-10-2018 at 03:53 PM. I kind of like to remove the whole throttle housing so making adjustments are easier. Make sure you don't drop the nuts or washers that hold the housing place into the manifold.
The throttle valve is supposed to be completely closed in the idle position. Turn the stop screw in or out until you can feel the throttle plate starting to grab slightly and then use the lock nut to set it. You may need to clean the housing first before doing any adjustments. Throttle position switch should be replaced in the same position as the old one so that the micro switch is in contact when at idle. The BBB goes into quite a bit of detail on this. If you don't have one you should get one. |

I am not sure about this, but I think there is a needle hole above the point where the throttle plate is. I have seen this clogged on one of my cars.

Thank you very much for reply Mr. Benz Dr. and Mr. Fonzi, I will remove throttle housing completely and check it out for removal. I think adjustment of switch is more complex than installation of switch.
