The nicest 3.5 Coupe I have ever seen

https://www.mercedes-benz.com/en/ats_vehicle/459353/

I guess at $466K it should be. Love the color combo. I did notice a few incorrect bits. The page takes a while to load so don't give up.

Probably one of the nicest Mercedes I've seen.
Thanks for sharing

I've just started my own 3.5 coupe and this is a good incentive. I've never seen those red triangles on the top of the air filter canister before. Anyone ever seen that before?

Sure, I have them on my ‘69 280S. I can see where the orientation of the air filter top on my car would matter with that hose fitting on one side.

Dang I didn’t see all that dirt next to it on the shock tower. Embarrassing!

I went through the site and saved all the pictures of the 3.5 coupes. I wish they had underbody shots. I search the net every week or so looking for examples to use for reference on correctness so any work I do "might" have some form of correctness.

I wonder what it would be worth if it had a sunroof?

Beautiful car (especially with the manual gearbox), shame they put the ugly "squishy" plastic gear change lever in it. The ball on the chrome stick is a much better looking design!

The actual gearshift "knob" is correct-it's the boot that is not correct. At some point there was a change from the "ball" to the knob. Mine is later (Dec 70) and it has the rubber knob. there should be a corrugated rubber boot not a leather one.

At these prices, one has to wonder if MB Club members still get the 10% classic center discount?

I don't think anyone is going to buy this other than Saudi princes looking to buy a swell wedding gift or something.

I hadn't seen the red mark on the air filter canister before - interesting.

Neither have I, which is why I question it and I've seen a lot of cars over the past 40 years.

Would a later 450 with D jet also have those red marks? I'm doing a '74 450SLC but I can't see any traces of red on the top of the air filter canister.

I’m curious too; I’ve always assumed they were common (just because I got ‘em), but I can’t find any pix of any beyond these 2 cars. My 280S came from a Monterey, California dealership in 1969 and I assume the red triangles were on it then. We got the car in ‘76.

It does seem to me that the red paint has been applied here to cars where the triangles weren’t already stamped into both pieces of the air filter cannister metal. It might be some kind of “fix”. Are they usually stamped?

Mostly I hope the red triangles are what makes some cars worth 400K!

Agree-this is the "I don't want to sell it" price. This is $150K more than the highest price I have ever seen for a 3.5 coupe and that was for a 3000 original mi time capsule.
