I would not even consider this notion of drilling holes for any reason. If you think it will be easier to glue the pad onto the hood with it off the car, then take it off. It will take two people to remove and reinstall it. After installed, it's just time consuming because multiple adjustments are usually necessary to get it right. This you can do alone. Just be patient and take your time. The main thing> use only 3M glue.

Two things that would make this easier and higher quality if you do take off the hood........
Draw a line around the area where the hood hinges bolt up to the hood. Use a type of ink that will wash off such as dry erase ink. This will not let you align the hood perfectly the first time but it will let you get it very close. Then close the hood slowly and check the alignment all the way around. Make minor adjustments as necessary. And if you do take off the hood you could lay it flat and then, after spraying on the glue and installing the pad, you could place something on it to hold it in place while it dried. Careful here; you don't want to lay the hood down on something that would scratch the paint. Removing the hood is a two person job. If that thing gets away from you it could scratch the paint or hit the windshield. |

And be advised, that coupe wind shield is a $600.00 piece of glass IF you can find one. I had to special order the one for my '74 and about fainted when I learned the price. The car came THIS close to being scrapped/parted out!

All points taken and observed. The car is on hold for now due to business travels that will take me to AL and MS until the end of month. She'll just sit and hibernate til then.
