The servo, which is part number 000 830 06 84, was first used in the 107 in 1972.
It was used in the 116 from 1973 to 1980, that is, throughout the entire run. There is supposed to be a difference between the ones used in the 107, the 116 and the 123 but I have never been able to tell any difference between them except for price. These can be rebuilt but it is tedious job and easy to mess up. There is the Euro version of AC which can replace the ACC II, but it is not a small job. |

So 73 had the servo or did it start in the 74 . Pictures I have seen suggest 73 is non servo with manual controls.

I'm pretty sure the first year for the servo was 1976. I've never seen a W116 or R/W107 with a servo before that year, and I don't think Mercedes bought the ACCII system from Chrysler until around 1975. All W116s before 1976 should have manual climate control.

I think 107 got it in 1978. 123 got it in 1977. 116 maybe 1977 or 1978. I could be wrong, wouldn't be the 1st time.

My 1975 w116 has manual climate control.
That doesn't mean that ACC wasn't an option. My car is lowly optioned - no sunroof, steel wheels, and carburetor - so maybe ACC was available but not ordered on mine.
