Lower Fuel Injector Seal Questions

I'm replacing the injector seals on my 72 108 4.5 and the lower seals provided by Beck Arnley and Borg Warner look nothing like the orignals. The orignals are like an mushroom and the replacements are like a slice of rubber hose which doesn't fit either of the two step holes available. Do I cram it down the lower hole and force the injector in or let it rest on the upper mushroom head seat area and hope the downward pressure of the injector collar has sufficient force to create an air tight seal?
Also the seal area has accumulated a lot of grime and sand particles, I cleaned the first one with a lot of Q-tips and parts cleaner, picking up individual pieces of sand. It only took an hour. Is there a faster safe way?

The fast way to clean up is to use a blow gun BEFORE removing the injectors.

There should be two seals, a big round one up by the clip and the little "mushroom like" guys at the tips. Anything else is the wrong part.

Didn't have a blow gun or a large enough air tank to run one, but I do have an electrolux, some tubing, a bic pen and some duct tape. Vacuumed the remaining holes in ten minutes flat.

I called John Stumph of Garnett, Ks, our local authority on all autos imported. He related that Mercedes was the only one to use the mushroom type seal and that other autos used the flat sided o-ring on Bosch injectors and they work fine on Mercedes also. So I used the downward pressure method and just took her up to 105mph on the Richmond straightaway. This is such an awesome car.
