110 EGR R&R

Now there has to be a trick to doing this and hopefully someone here has done it. The EGR is woefully logged between the cylinder head, linkage and carburetor. Not much room to place a spanner at all. Does the piping from the exhaust manifold have to be removed to the EGR first?

Again, my thanks,

Gympie

Not being anyplace near my car I can't go look...

... But a distributor wrench, which is little more than a bent spanner, can't get in there ? What about a crow's foot on a universal or an extension rod ?

Somebody just posted an M110 service manual on ebay along with the v1 maintenance manual for a whopping buy it now price of 25$.

The nut on the EGR is as far as I can tell a 20 or 21mm. Can't get a spanner in there to tell exactly. The EGR has not been changed in many a year and is pretty frozen in place. Have been soaking it with Kroil, so hopefully, it will be loose when I figure how to get it off.
It is in such a ridiculous place, loged between so many other items. But am starting to think first the pipe from the exhaust must be taken off first get oneside off, then work on the other end of the beast. Then the matter is getting the bolt off the bottom.

I'll try to take a look at the manual tomorrow.

Thanks Chuck for your willingness to check the service manual. I have looked in mine, but all it dipicts is the function and troubleshooting. Nothing on R&R I can find.

There's an r/r for the air pump but none for the EGR valve. It is not a hug deal to pull the intake manifold, though. Can you get to the rear connection to unhook the plumbing?

The EGR valve is a disposable part. I got three of them off of ebay last year for 3$ each.

Have not started working on it as yet accept placing KOIL on it when I look at it. :-) Did take a look at the flat rate manual which states it is a .8 hour job. So for those in the know how to do it, it should be fairly simple. Hopefully, the intake will stay as it is. CTH is lucky to get his EGR's for 3 bucks each, mine cost $12 on ebay. Now if only instructions would have come with it. :-)
