You can use "normal" car fluids. The only fluid I would shy away from is antifreeze, stick with the MB stuff. There is lots of discussion on green v. tan (or orange, or blue, what ever the color is in whatever part of the world you're in). The MB stuff work fine and isn't much more than the other stuff, only thing is you don't find it on sale at WallyWorld.

Per owner's manual:
Transmission fluid: Dextron (Dextron/Mercon III these days) Power steering: Type A transmission fluid, Dextron if no Type A available/ Engine oil: Any MB recommended oil, typical temp ratings (they are the same for most cars) Differential: SAE 90 Hypoid gear oil, MB Special Differential Oil for limited slip rear ends (this is important, as it is NOT 90W oil!) Coolant: treated water, or 50:50 anticorrosion antifreeze. Grease nipples: Lubrication grease (don't forget these, you have kingpins in the front, and nothing is permanently lubricated on this car!)
