Owww ! My butt's scrapin'

I'm not sure if any of you have had similar problems, but I've had this one since buyng my car. I've changed my rear shocks and cleaned out my trunk of stuff, but still, scrape my wheel well and/or muffler when carrying passengers in the back seat.

Is there something I haven't changed yet that I should look into, or somehow raise the rear springs ?

Thanks,

AARON ROCHARD

The rear springs may have sagged, they do with age. In Canada, corroded springs breaking is VERY common -- lowers the ride considerably!

The other thing to look at is rear subframe and diff mount bushings, they can let the rear of the car sag as the subframe rotates.

And don't forget, these cars do sit a little lower than American cars -- I nearly lost the exhaust from the 300D on a ferry ramp!

Yep, been there.
I did the rear subframe bushings and it helped some, didn't do the diff at the same time cause I'm lazy. I ought to though. sheck out www.altrom.com they are distributors, but they list where you can order from near you. Prices are good (and listed in CDN funds) as is delivery, very good for us Canucks as ordering across borders bites. I think my springs are tired too, but haven't found a good source here yet. There are spring spacers available and Haynes has a method for measuring the ride height at the swing arms which may help to see how much you're out.

Cheers,
Mark

the W115 has a soft rear from birth
The thing commenly done around here ( Holland ) is replace the rear springs with a heavier kind build for the w115 but used for taxies mostly.
I replaced the rear springs on my w115 6 months ago and the problem was solved 100%

Thanks, do you have a part number or description I can go from if the springs aren't available in here in Toronto or North America ?

You can buy what I believe are called "Helper Springs". They look similar to U - bolts. They will lift a 115 car as high as 2". Make sure the springs are in good shape because if they are rusted they can snap the spring. They cost about $6.00 per spring and are easy to install. Any chain automotive store should have them.
