220SEb History

I am restoring a 1961 220SEb Coupe. Does anyone know exactly how many coupes vs convertables were made that year? Also how do I find the history of this car VIN#1110211000829. When I bought it it was all original unrestored, but I would like to know more about it's past. CMW

The total production figs are easy to come by, but the yearly production ones are shown together as a single combined production run, so it is hard to guess.
But here is what I have .
Totals
111.021-2/61-10/65....14173 units
111.023-9/61-10/65...2729 "

Combined units - '65...2537

Might want to try a Google search

Try the Heckflosse page it has alot of information about your car and has the production figures broke up into car and year.

Same info.
The problem of obtaining yearly production numbers for the Cp/Cab is that they were Serial numbered as one Model on the same production line.
So, one serial could be a Cp and the next in order # could be a Cab...
Total production is given, but yearly breakdown is not .

Chuck, have you contacted the Classic Center at Mercedes Benz? As you likely already know, the link to the MB website is www.mbusa.com. From there, click on "Mercedes in Depth", then "Mercedes Classic", and finally, "Contact Classic Center". You can then e-mail or call them with you question. They should be able to give you all the answers you're looking for. Good luck.
