rubber molding
I have a 75 450 SL. The rubber molding on the hard top on the passenger side is mis-shaped and hard, so in cold weather the window glass doesn't slide into place when the door is closed. Any ideas on how to soften the molding or does it have to be replaced?

Replace it. After almost 30 years in hot and cold weather it has served you (or the car) well. Rubber moulding is usually kind of expensive if you get the "real" OEM part as opposed to a knock-off but most people I have spoken to have advised me to get the OEM part as the quality is much better - especially if you plan on keeping the car.
Good luck, Peter Kaufman

Will take your advice and go see the dealer. Think I will save up and replace both sides and any other that is close.
