Power Steering Pump Question - '72 250C

With the Wayward Woman waiting on a ACC servo, I tackled a long-standing problem with the 250C yesterday. The PS pump leaks like a Dutch dike out of the shaft. I pulled it out and removed the pulley and front seal. Easy enough to replace.

My question is, though: Is replacing the shaft seal just a band-aid for the problem and is it likely to start leaking again because another seal is bad? The shaft itself is in good shape.

I did note in the parts book that MB sells a seal kit for the pump? Anyone ever resealed one?

TIA.

Chuck,
I replaced the PS pump seal kits in both my 250 and 250C. It shouldn't be a problem unless the shaft/bearing is worn. Mine were OK.

Happy Motoring, Mark

The bearing on the one I replaced was in pieces. I've since sold the engine from that car and still have the pump if you need it.
