Steering Gear box??

I have a '79 450 SL

I have a leak from the gear box. Anyone know of a rebuild kit available for these? Dont want to shell out $300 for a new (rebuilt) gear box.

Thanks,
Rich

Check with a dealer or one of the web places. The parts book shows one with an impressive number of seals and washers.

Before you try replacing seals try some prestone power steering fluid labeled "stops leaks." It comes it two types "stops leaks" and "stops squeals" You want "stops leaks". You have to replace the fluid with this stuff. It worked in my 4.5. Or you can also get an additive for the fluid you have in there already. They both work by swelling paper gaskets I think.
