I actually got it running pretty decent and was about 2 days away from getting it tagged and inspected and a head gasket blew! I pulled the l/h head and found the head to be warped. To make a long story short, it's not worth messing with anymore and I'll probably call the wrecking yard and unload it for scrap. Too bad as it is a real shame to crush a rust-free body... :-(

Stumbled on this great thread researching my 350SL problems.
Justin - What did you do that finally got it to start and what did you do to get it to run "decently"?

I havent read the complete thread but long and short is that I have the following spares for this car:
Complete 4.5 D-Jet engine. Distributor with cap, rotor and trigger points. MAP sensor ECU A couple of Fuel Injectors. All from a 72 300SEL 4.5 and located in Dallas, TX. Let me know if you need parts, I'll sell them off cheap.
