How to identify a european 116 motor
The motor in my 450 is in need of major care, rings, valve guides, etc. I have the opportunity to purchase a 78 or 79 450se - european bumpers, lights, controls inside are in german and european units (like bar). My question is - was this car imported from europe, and does it have the european spec motor? How can I tell? Is it in the VIN?
Thanks, Ben |

I will take a crack at this and say that it might be a Euro model. As far as I know, there were no SE's imported in the late 1970s. Another way to tell is if it has manual climate controls.

It does have the manual climate control - it's a 77, according to the door tag, and many of the tags are in german as well. Thanks for the help.
