Grease question
This is something I have been wondering about for a while. When reading shop manuals, etc..., there are usually a few different types of grease mentioned. What kind should I get? That is, what is the best for suspension lubricating? Window rails? Antenna? General purpose? Electric? And so forth.
It seems that often each application calls for a specific grease (at least this is what I remember from my 2002 days.) TIA, Peter |

Peter,
You will want to go to your local MB dealership and get a can of Mercedes-Benz "Gleitpaste" or "sunroof grease" in other words. Comes in a large can which will last you a long time.

MB sliding sunroof paste ONLY for the sunroof, anything else and you will greatly regret it, as the roof won't work correctly.
For the suspension I use good quality (Valvoline at the moment) synthetic high melting point grease. Bad place to get cheap, I think. White lithium is good for the door hinges, but you need a tiny tip for the grease gun to get it in there. Don't skimp, worn hinges are a big pain! Peter

I guess I should have elaborated:
Yes, sunroof grease for sunroof, hinges, linkage, etc.... Obviously don't use it for suspension applications. You would need a special grease (i.e. for zerk fittings) and also a high-temp grease for the wheel bearings. Otherwise, sunroof grease is the best for "top side" application.
