Test drove a 6.3 today

Well, it looks like it might be time for another classic Merc to join the family. I took a test drive in a '69 6.3 today which belongs to a local customer of the shop. The car is nice, needs a few loose ends tied up but overall is a winner. Before I buy though I'm working on researching my cost of some needed parts. Wish me luck!

Wow! What a collection, the 6.9 and 6.3 are two of my favs.

How much faster does the 6.3 "feel" than the 6.9? I've seen the numbers, but have read that it's more like a good old muscle car. Drool...

Good luck with it and don't leave us for m-100.org!

The INJECTION PUMP and DISTRIBUTOR set-up is what makes em' a WINNER or LOSER . . .

A 6.3 that has been set up correctly . . . is like sittin' on a keg o' DYNOMITE ! ! !

Ya better have a HEALTHY budget to keep it in TIRES ! ! !

The 6.3 and 6.9 are both fast in their own unique ways. The 6.3 is more of a raw hotrod while the 6.9 is very refined yet deceptively fast. The 6.9 is quiet while the 6.3 is brutishly loud inside and out. The 6.9 is easier to drive fast because of the more refined suspension but the 6.3 will out drag many an unsuspecting Corvette or Mustang, although lay into the 6.9 and it will perform equally as well. The 6.3 I drove today needs some things done to it before I would think of using it on a regular basis, but all in all it's a very good car. We work on a number of 6.3s and I have visited Star Motors in Endicott and stayed with Neil Dubey and have been given a personal showing of his (and Karl Middelhauve's) electronic fuel injection system.

W126: Don't worry, I have been a long time member of the M-100 group so both M-100.org and Mercedesshop get equal time from me!
