Neutral safety switch???? This sounds like something the dieseldog would just rip right out of the car.......

My first guess for locating this nuissance device would be underneath the shift gate in the center console.

Believe its on the driver's side of the transmission at the linkage connection.

I agree with you on that one. If mine died I'd just bypass it too, it really can't be harder than soldering the 2 wires together, or crimping, or whatever your fancy. Save yourself a few $$

Typically, it's fastened to the left side of the automatic tranny case, under the shift linkage connection, with 3 screws. Often one or more of these screws are corroded into the case. When you replace the switch, you might also want to install a new brass switch drive bushing as the little brass 'tit' that turns the switch can crack or break. The neutral switch has four terminals as it also contains the back-up light switch. If you decide to bypass instead of replace and find the correct two out of the four terminals, remember that the car will now start in any gear!

Happy Motoring, Mark

Yeah, but does it REALLY matter? I mean, how many people do you know who don't put their car in Park or Neutral and would TRY to start it in a gear?
