300SEL 4.5 strange

What's that strange noise coming from my trunk when driving my "new" 300SEL 4.5, sitting in the rear seat on drivers side, I hear this spring sound like someone just hit a bad cord on an old guitar, last two seconds or so and then does not happen until another 7-10 minutes. I think it could be the trunk lid spring but just hard to beleive, cant understand why it would do that. This car really scares me, just got it out of the shop for a tune of $2,700. Had everything done, new brakes, shocks, wires ect. Everything serviced. Got it home and the next day, front hit the ground, leake somewhere. This is a beatuful machine, perfect interior, absolutly no rust, no dings on the old paint, crome everywhere is flawless, wood is flawless and beautiful. What nice cars these are!!!!

Ah, the joys of air suspension!

The usual problem is leaking air lines, most often the o-rings are bad. Get them replaced before springing for bags or rebuilt valves ($$$$$$$$).

The noise is probably a buzzing valve -- I'd bet the rear is slowly jacking up and the venting off, causing the singing noise. Could also be the hydrocompensator if you have one, same problem, although if you just had the suspension worked on, I'd bet both problems are a result and are easily cured.
