1975 116 Fuel Strainer Removal Advise
Looking for any "gotchas" involved in the removal of the fuel strainer on my 75 450SE. When I get down real low (I dipped the tank and had about 2.5" of gas left in it) it starts running crappy/starving for fuel so I am thinking this strainer/pre-filter is partially clogged.
I am hoping I'm not inviting a busted fitting, tank damage, leak problems if I remove this. Looking at the parts manual it seems it is a threaded assembly with an O-ring that just screws up into the tank. I may opt just to blow compressed air back through it if there is a chance of damaging the threads in the tank bung, OR ripping a hole in the tank... Thanks, Justin B. |

Should just screw out, but I've not personally removed one to see. It's brass, so it shouldn't have siezed.
I think it is 24 or 28 mm, though... Peter
