Question 1939 L 1500 Ambulance with orignial 230 motor

Hello I have been restoring this vehicle and gotten the engine(very cool flathead 6) running well, I am hoping that someone may know of ANY shops or suppliers preferable in the United States;who may be able to supply engine parts .I would like to drive this vehicle and not just use it as a static display piece. Niemoller's of Germany says they have no parts for prewar Mercedes and wished me LUCK! Gulp! Any ideas?? Thanks!

Sorry can't help you with '39 parts specifically, but I've had good luck finding oddball parts from Randy Steele at EPS parts. He has a website here:

eps parts

Other parts (break wheel cylinders, master cylinders, ect) can be refurbished through White Post restorations. They are a really nice restoration house, but on the side they will ream out and press stainless steel inserts into old oddball hydraulic parts.

Also, you HAVE to post pics of your project. Regardless of condition, we are all very curious of what you got.

Many thanks for the info, I'll hopefully get some photos at the Reading Air show this weekend and be able to post them so you can see what this beast looks like!

You're certainly welcome.

You also might want to pick up a copy of Hemmings Motor News. Under the Mercedes section, they list a variety of parts sources.
