Nancy,

Are you talking about installing fuel injection on an early 250C?
Curious to know which set up you're considering.

Regards,
Daryl

I swapped engines between a 250C and a 250CE last year. There were a few challenges, despite having a complete donar car to work from. Major headache was having to use the D jetronic fuel system as it meant bringing all the wiring loom across from the donar car - ie most of the dash has to come out or apart.

If you're thinking about an M110 with K jetronic it might be easier ... provided you're prepared to replace the entire engine & transmission + the exhaust system (opposite side from the M130 or the M114).

But then sometimes these kind of projects are the best fun, right?

I admire ambition with these cars, but you would be WAY better off to covert the Zenith carbs to Webers with the gold-plated JAM Engineering kit.

Afraid I have to agree with Chuck. You'll get more HP for less grief by changing to Webers.

The D jet on an M114 is complex and provides less HP than a twin carbed M130 and going down the K jet/M110 path is loads of work (although that is a beautiful engine).

If I had my time again I would have rebuilt the M130 in my original 250C rather than going through 3 months of weekends in the garage swapping about 150 items from the 250CE.

Keep us informed on which way you go ... love to hear of other W114 coupes being cared for.

Peter.
LOL ... now you've got me.... I havnt seen one of those here in Oz but I guess its possible.

If the set up is the same as the M114 then the heads are quite different and its not as simple as just bolting on the inlet manifold.

But there is something so high tech about those d injection systems. Not to mention I find it so visually attractive. I know I am
a bit weird ? As it is I want to polish the valve cover to a mirror finish.Right now it's half way there.

Oh and I did finally get the zeniths to behave, so no more leaky, stumbly stuff.

Weird maybe - but yes I can see where you're coming from. I spent a considerable number of hours getting the engine bay of my 250CE cleaned to the point of gleaming. Something satisfying about polishing the finish up on all the linkages and tubing so that they shine. Didnt go to the trouble of polishing the rocker cover but I'm thinking I might do that on one of my SLs. The purists will wince I'm sure. You will have to post some pics of the result - would love to see it.
