Question Window tent 72 300 SEL

Hot as hell here in Texas. I am thinking of putting an amber window tent on all windows except fron windsheild. The Car is gold and would look really good. The Guy says he could remove it in a day. I am thinking collector and show, and just don't know how it would affect the car. Some of you have seen my pictures. I would value your opinion. Thanks.

I am thinking about doing it on my 300D, although it is about 10 years too late for the leather. The stuff is falling off the seats like when Kurtwood Smith fell in the toxic waste in RoboCop.
It is white so I could just do a light shade of black.
I'm less worried about that affecting stock condition since it is reversable. My buddy went on a hour long rant about how I should cut the rear deck and door panels to put a sound system in. But as decimated the seats are, I refuse to Cut anything. Who knows what people would say at the 2012 300D Meet and Show.
He couldn't understand what I see in that car that would keep me from cutting holes that don't belong.

Yep if you put a good enough "tent" on your windows you could turn in into a camper

Can you post the pics? I have not seen them. I had a dark limo tint on my 280sel 4.5 . The car was dual color silver with black top. I loved it. But since i did it myself it was bubbly on the edges. Have it done professionally. worth the money.

On the window tint, first check with your state auto inspection dept, if you have one.

Joshhol,
You could try that cube-speaker setup that I put under the seats in 'Miss Daisy'. Might need to add a small amp.
Alternatively, I've been thinking about a pair of tweeters inconspicuosly mounted on or under the dash and a powered subwoofer under one of the seats.

Happy Motoring, Mark

Did you go ahead with the tinting? I am thinking of doing the same on my 73 280SEL 4.5- in maple yellow with dk brown int., I am thinking a goldish beige metallic like tint. Certainly post pics when you are finished, would like to se how it turned out-

Cheers,

JAS

Ya Mark, I was reading your old post and decided to pursue that route when I upgrade. I'm not going to cut anything.
I'll put some speakers under the seats with some separates under the dash and put a small sub in the hole in the rear deck that already exists. I'll throw some amplifier in the trunk and just let it flop around in there.
