Spark plug wire boots?
Interesting:
I don't know how old these wires are, but the metal stamping on them still says "W. Germany". So goes...... anyway..... Wires look pretty good. I can't see any cracks and are not dry or stiff. however: A couple of the metal boots seem loose to my tastes. I mean, the boot snaps into the plug end. But on the suspect ones, it seems loose. I.E., you can jiggle it around maybe a 1/4 to 1/3 inch in any direction. Just a couple of them. Do you think this can lose some spark, or contibute to poor ignition performance? |

I just put new wires, plugs, rotor, and cap on my 450slc and it runs much, much better. I got the wires from the local parts store for $110. They are made by Standard and are an exact match for MB. The cap and rotor came from another parts store and are made by Borg Warner and again are an exact match at 2/3's the price.

P.S.: wire diagram?
Additional to my question about the loose fitting boots, can someone provide me the basic wires-to-distributor cap schematic for the M117 450 engine?
I can't find a Chilton or Haynes around at the moment, and don't have the CD. Thanks. |

Someone's yet to say it's wrong nb: the "notch" is on the distributor, not the cap.
