You gotta try this again.... reach into the car and turn the key without touching accelerator. With zero accelerator the car might stumble and be tougher to start but it will be easier to diagnose.
That's one of my tests for checking automatic chokes on vintange MB's - carbs and fuelies alike..... stand next to the car and try to start it without even sitting in drivers seat. Click the key "on".... let (electric) fuel pump build pressure.... then turn the key to "start"..... It should start after less than 30 sec. cranking..... might run rough for a few seconds, then stabilize at high idle - if its anything like the 116 mechanical fuelie 6 cyl.

I thought that all fuel-injected vehicles started without using any throttle. I KNOW my 4.5 fires right away without so much as touching the gas pedal (less than 1 second).

mines does. but I didn't let the fuel pump run long enough before starting it. I found that if you pump the pedal it starts quicker. If I let the fuel pump run for about 10sec, it'll start stright away.
