How much oil does your old merc use?

I just want to know what kind of oil usage your old mercs are getting. My 250SE seems to use around 500ml's of oil every 4 weeks of driving and it's at least driven 70 - 100K's every day.

About 1 quart per 3000 miles in the 300TD and the 300SDL. The 560SL does about the same. But right now the valve covers are leaking. Another job to do.

Well, lets see. The 220D uses about a quart a day (hehe, really about 4 quarts to a tank of fuel -- currently not running due to chain stretch and bad brakes, etc).

The Volvo, when running (blown head gasket) uses a quart per 1000 miles, more or less. I anticipate less when I get a new head gasket (or whatever else) in it.

The 280 used to use quite a bit, but new valve cover gaskets seem to have reduced the consumption to about a quart in 2000 miles or less -- haven't added any since I changed the oil in July.

The 300D (not an old benz) doesn't use more than a quart in 8000 miles -- changed it when it got low enough to turn the oil level light on.

Mobil 1 in everything except the 220D.

Peter

The 4.5 uses about a quart to quart and a half on a 3K oil change.

Right now running Mobil semi-synthetic after a one year diet of Castrol semi-syn.

My 220D burns about 1 quart in 1,000 miles. It weaps oil, but doesn't leave a mark on the ground.
My '95 does not burn or leak a drop.
