how long to warm up

Typically how long does it take to warm up your 60 era car ? It seems to take about 5 minutes before my temp gauge moves up to where it should be. As well I seem to have a very strong exhaust smell, not like the typical car of today. Do any of you have this problem ?

A well broken in engine won't warm up instantly, and one with a leaky thermostat can take forever.

None of that vintage MBs will warm up fast, and they run RICH cold (carbs a bit less than EFI because they are electrically heated).

I get temp guage movment in a couple minutes this time of year, but it takes a couple miles in the winter.
