Kickdown Transmission Switch

I've searched the forum and found some good stuff. Can't help post about it.

The kick down switch seems to be free of any obstructions and "clickable" with the gas pedal. However, no downshifting for power is happenning.

The search forum was enlightenning. I'll have to set aside more time to actually get under and inspect the trans.

Are there any common simple fixes?

The car has power as is, but I think once the kickdown switch is functioning the car will have noticeable zip. Will make driving in today's world much easier.

Model and year would be helpful. I had a radio installed in the SL and they disconnected it at the plug under the center console. I was lucky to know where it was at but since the PO's dealer forgot to hook it up after a tranny rebuild I became an expert:p

Does the kickdown switch ride on the same electrics as the radio? I've got an aftermarket radio.

It is a very basic circuit - at least on the 114's. Power from a fuse that is hot with ignition on, through the switch, to the solenoid in the transmission. The wire from the switch to the transmission could easiy have problems - it gets a lot of heat, oil, dirt, and vibration.

Is the fuse located in the fusebox?
Thanks

Yes, and I believe it's a dedicated fuse... somewhere around 3 or so... it's listed on the paper.
