280 sel vin number

Does anyone have a clue how to decipher the VIN and other codes for these cars?

The first 3 digits tell you the chassis - 108
The next three tell you it is an SEL with a 4.5 - 068
The next 2 digits tell you it is LHD with an automatic - 1 & 2
The last 6 digits are the individual run off the assembly line

Should look like: 108 068 12 123456
