Sacrilige? Remote Starter

Perhaps I am flirting with the unthinkable, but has anyone installed a remote starting device on their gas powered auto-tranny car? I was given one serveral years ago, but never installed it. In the interum, I have had only manual shift cars, which are not recommended for the device. I now have my 280E W123, sporting around 50k miles, which might be a candidate.

Any experience with these things? Is this a DYI job and can it be done on a gas Benz?

Cheers, Alex

I installed one on my parents' 99 Intrepid.

I found it very easy to do, and my mom loves it. I've thought of putting one on my 108, in fact - and somehow rigging the unlock button so it actually works!

Remote Starting

What's the unlock button and what's the trick to it?

The remote starter system I installed also had trunk, lock, and unlock buttons on the remote.
It's designed to be used on an electronic lock system - not a pneumatic one.
I have thought of using a relay and a motor to "Pull" the lock down or "Push" it up. But it's just an idea at this point...
