108 SE vs. SEL
During my perpetual cruising of on-line parts houses and ebay, occasionally items catch my attention that I'm not sure will fit in the SEL. For example, door rubber.....isn't the rear door larger then the SE. Also, carpet and/or floormats.
I think I know that the floor pan is larger on the SEL by X inches but did that come at the expense of a smaller trunk or did they extend the whole chassis. Is the wheel base the same or longer? Other things that could potentially be affected would be the trim on the rear door and rear fenders. 'preciate any input here.

I'm sure that was just a typo because SL's have only 2 doors , I'm sure you meant SE
The extra inches are in the floor, roof and doors. They did not sacrafice any trunk space. Wheel base is longer. About the only items that won't swap are limited to the rear doors and the roof line trim or headliner. Rear leg room is more, so rear carpet won't swap either. As a result, driveshafts are different too. Most any other body parts and trim pieces should swap.

Thanks Mike, that was sorta what I was wondering. And yes, I did mean SE.....a littler brain fade their. Need to do a bit of editing.

A little do-it-yourself-at-home-experiment:
Take an SE (if you have one laying around), cut it completely into two pieces in the middle of the rear doors (looking at it in profile), then splice in about 4 inches between the two pieces, and you have an SEL...

Now that is a good idea, but I don't have an SE lying around so I thought I would deconstruct my SEL into an SE 'cause I am better with a hacksaw then a welder
Went out into the garage, grabbed my trusty hacksway and went to work only to realize that the bow was to small for the car to fit into.....bummer, now I have to put that plan aside and think about it. P.s, my wife wasn't (isn't) to fond of the idea.

Not to mention handling characteristics......... the long-legged SEL will wail on the SE at speeds above 80mph - when longer wheelbase shoots the highways like an arrow in flight.
