Family owned 1969 280SE

aa friend just told me about this 1969 280se that's her boss has for sale. it's a 90,000 original mile, family owned, garage kept vehicle that gets driven a couple times a week. i have a feeling she's a real beauty.

any idea what engine that would have?

Is it a 4-door (108), or is it a 2-door (coupe or cabriolet - 111)? If it's a 108, it has the 2.8L 6-cyl mechanically fuel-injected m130 (The 71 was the first year of the 4.5). If it's a coupe or cabriolet, it could be either the 2.8L, or it could be the V8 EFI 3.5L m116 (pretty rare and expensive vehicles!).

i got the info as a message on my answer machine which was a little unclear. she said it's a 580SE two door hard top (she meant 280SE)
not sure if i could afford it but i'm interested and it doesn't sound like the family knows the value

The car is still available.

I understand it's similar to this one but a couple of years older. http://www.allsportauto.com/static/mercedes/280_se_3l5_coupe/

did you want to email me your number than i can pass it on to the owner?

Probably at least $15K, if it's in the condition of the one he linked to pics of...

Hey, let's not all get too excited before we clarify a couple of things. The owner said it's a 280SE coupe. She also said it was **similar** to the one pictured. The one pictured was a 3.5. HOWEVER, that does NOT mean that the car in question is a 3.5. I'm willing to bet it's not. I think the owner was referring to the shape, as opposed to the specific model.

In any case, it would be a great car but the value difference is huge, I believe.
