Need door straps
I need both front door straps for a 1971 280SE, mine are both broken off inside the door. Price and shipping to 72002, please. I posted this on the parts forum as well.
Thanks Jerry

What do you mean by door straps - the springs that hold them open?
If so.. my driver's side was broken, the fix was simple enough. The bolts snap apart on the inside - get a new metric threaded bolt (and matching nut, flat washer and lockwasher) that has the same thread as the old one. Take the remaining threaded rod out, put the bolt into there (with the springs in place, of course) and screw it in. Then put it in the door and use the new nut and washers to re-secure it there, then reattatch the other two nuts on the front of the door frame. I had to bend the pin (on which the wheels ride) straight as well, easy enough. All the spring pieces (I think there are 4) should be either still attatched, or in the bottom of the (inside of the) door. If you need to know how it goes together, ask! The reinforcing cross-bridge or whatever on mine was snapped but regardless, I haven't had any problems and the new bolt is holding fine on its own.

Tomguy,
My initial post was not clear - my hold open straps are OK, what is broken is the bracket inside the door that has the spring attached to it. As you know, the spring rides on the rollers, pushing the rollers into the detents when you open the door thus holding the door open. Where the spring attaches to the bracket, that's where mine are broken. Don't really need the straps (I straightened my pins as well), just need the door bracket that the spring is attached to. Make sense? Thanks Jerry
