4.5 cams: The final chapter!

Well, I put the 52/53 cams in today (replacing the 56/57 in there - someone posted about the 54/55, can someone throw the numbers for the 56/57 up? Thanks!)

My car idles smoother, runs quieter and smoother, and it seems to respond a lot more quickly to the throttle. I drove it like a madman going up the Morgan highway - with the 56/57 cams, my headers were ALWAYS red after this. When I got there, the headers not only weren't red, the engine itself felt a LOT cooler than it used to!

The cams I took off were in absolute beautiful condition as well. (NOT ONE of the lobes has any signs of serious wear!) - I think that the reason it got so hot is that my timing chain stretch (causing later cam timing) combined with later cams produced insanely high exhaust gas temps!

Sounds as if it's time for nitrous.

Paul: Ironic though... got stopped on the Expressway for speeding. Been a bit stressed lately (dad's in a burn center in Pittsburgh after having a heart attack in the sauna at the JCC and passing out... then he had a stroke while in there...) and I was going home to walk my dog (as my mother was there with him) and was totally out of it, not looking at the speedo (which is a HUGE mistake on a 4.5) ...anyway, got caught for "76.854" in a 50 zone

Of course I'm not going to plead guilty... I was behind another car anyway, and I did slow down before I got pulled over (never saw the speed trap! but realized I was going fast and settled behind a car before exiting, before the cop came up)...

Sorry to hear about the situation with your father. I wish him the best of luck.

Regarding the ticket, I assume that it was the Vascar trap between N. Main Avenue and Seventh Avenue. Tough one to beat, but good luck,

Well, "Other" is checked (not Vascar) on the ticket...
I'm going to be honest - I was not paying attention and my mind's been wandering (it was 11:45PM, there was only 1 other car on the road and when I came up on it fast is when I realized how fast I was going). They only timed me for 1.78 seconds... If they took the avg of a mile it might be more fair - I know that (at least I, if not anyone else) sometimes drive faster during some times but slow down when I realize I'm going too fast.

I was just talking to my dad about speeding tickets the other day. He just got a big ticket for rear ending a car and causing a 5 car chain reaction (his rear brakes failed on a 3500 deisel which is very heavy). He just hired a ticket lawyer for $99 (the going rate I believe) and the ticket was written off. No points off. No increase in insurance. You should look into this.
