Electric Washer Pump on 108

I was working on mine and saw the foot pumper
has an electric connection that goes up into the harness.

Is there a spare connection somewhere you can mount an electric washer pump to ? (mines a '72 w/power everything).

I saw one come up on ebay for less than $20,
looked interesting....

I'm not aware of an electric option if you currently have a footpump. On my '72 250,
I was able to bypass my faulty footpump and install an electric pump. To keep things simple, I disconnected the hot wiper lead at the footswitch and connected it direct to the electric pump. My wipers still function normally off the stalk switch. If you want the footpedal to operate both the electric pump AND the wipers, you need to add an isolation relay and related wiring to prevent normal wiper operation from feeding power back to run the electric pump constantly.

Great tips Mark. I just (apparently) blew out my 32 yr-old bellows the other day and I was trying to figure out how to rig an electric pump into the loop.

It's fairly simple to wire in an electric pump if you can live without the foot-operated wiper feature. I've heard that an original replacement footpump is pretty expensive but rubber footpumps were used on other car makes. I recently saw one in a '65 Ford Van. Perhaps one of those coud be adapted.

I had a leaky bulb at the foot pedal. I removed the bulb and installed a cheap "horn" button (from pep boys or any parts house) in it's place. This is wired to an electric pump from a later model mercedes which I got at the junk yard.

You can't see the mod at the switch and it works just like the original except for not having a "leak" inside the car.

Yo PyrO...

Man, you just love doing the subtle/discrete stuff don't you?? I recall your tips and advice on the installation of bulbs behind the clear lenses in the headlight bezels. I will not be doing the light thing now since I am getting some euro headlamps to swap in. Keep us posted on your cool stuff.
