76 300d manual tranny?

i was wondering if there was a manual transmission in the 75/76 115/114 sedans.

or earlier models that were standard that i could add the clutch and parts to get rid of my bad auto tranny.

thanks

all the 114/115s could be had with a manual. from about 1973 to 1980 they were the same, a three piece 4spd, though there were in the u.s. very rare 5spds.
the 300d manual is uncommon, supposedly half the 240s are
manuals. they will use the same manual flywheel and all other
parts. all the parts off the gassers except the flywheels.
your auto car is set up to use the manual and clutch. there
is a cutout in the tranny tunnel, attachment spots for the
clutch pedal, holes through the firewall for the hydraulic lines
and a nipple on the brake resovoir for the fluid.

much has been written in the diesel posts about this
conversion. a 240/300d auto to manual is a straight forward
conversion

I don't think there were any 115 300D manuals, at least not in North America. Might be a few shadetree conversions.

Through most of the '70s, only the 240D was sold in the US with a 4 speed manual shift. No 5 speeds. Main problem with converting a 300D and most other models to manual will be finding a 'manual' flywheel that fits and balances to your engine. Also, some Mercedes engines use a different crankshaft for automatic or stick and those automatic crankshafts aren't machined for the pilot bearing.

Someone told me that the 300D used a bigger flywheel than the 240D. You would have an easier time swapping in a 240D engine and trans.

the 300d uses a thicker flywheel, thus heavier than the 240d.
my understanding is there is no real problem.
