So...do I just show up at the parts department? What the heck am I actually asking for? I mean, can I order a cut key or will they give me some sort of code? I went ahead and bought some key blanks on EBAY....but they might be a bust! The description was fairly vague, claiming the blank fit all MB's from 65-69...hmmmm
Luckily they were cheap.. .back to this dealership thing...my local dealership isn't into bending over backwards (or forwards! LOL) for vintage Mercedes owners...they're ALL about selling you a new one...
Anyone know of any direct link to Germany to get this info?? (it could happen!)

yup, you just walk into the dealer's place and aim straight for the parts counter.

Yup, it's that simple. Save those key blanks for a locksmith. Have him duplicate the key you get from the dealer after you verify that the new key works in all the locks. -CTH

i walked up with my key expecting them to copy it, they told me they didnt do that they ordered them already cut. so he took the vin number from the car, and they ordered it. it was not cheap ($27) and its taking it time to get here, but it was easy.

while we are on the subject can you get the plastic part of the key seperately? thats the part thats worn out on mine.

So EASY to get a key!

I called the dealership this morning to ask about the key replacement process, thinking I'd have to grovel or I'd be turned down. The parts department was soooooooo friendly! They took my order over the phone and thought it'd be in by Tuesday!! Plus, it only cost $24.98!!!

YES!!
