Rear End Assembly Prices
Still chasing the whine in the 280C's rear diff, and discovered that I also have a torn inner right CV joint boot.
An established recycler is offering an entire rear end assembly from a 114 with, I am told, 64K miles, for $500. I get a lot of stuff, like hubs and control arms, which I don't particularly need. Does this sound like a good deal? My next best alternative is rebuilt axles for $142 apiece and a used differential for $150.

You mean that you don't particularly need 'yet'. The prices are similar so go for the complete assembly. You may need extra parts later. I have some spare parts for various Heathkits, TV's, receivers etc.
