The car was great black exterior with red interior with a white steering wheel.nice combo. So let's hear about your high mileage benz. How many miles on the odometer? Was it fun or a headach?

I'm almost embarrased to say the highest milage car I have bought was the TE, at 194,000 or so.

Typical W124 chassis stuff -- engine mounts, oil leak (was the filler cap), water pump, flex disk. Otherwise almost perfect.

I too purchased a 1976 W115 300D with a broken speedometer cable. The previous owner stated it had around 350,000 miles on it. That was two years ago and it still runs fine. Also I bought a 83 240D with 264,000 that I use as a daily commuter (35 miles each way). After changing the filters, it runs like a watch.

I inherited a 83 380Sl last year and now the car has 213,000 miles on it. Father bought it off e-bay a couple years ago. Can't say it came with out headaches but It has been fun. After several months of going through it mechanically I got it running great. Had to replace just about everything in the brakes correct some defective wiring but the biggest issue was the rust. Been working the body now since June and just about ready for paint. The biggest problem were that the front jack points were rusted out. Changing out the rocker panels was a huge job and I don't think I would ever do that again. But since it was my fathers favorite toy not restoring it was out of the question. However I did get to purchase some cool new tools and taught myself and my 2 boys how to weld.
