Yup. Use a clean, long, thin funnel and fill from the tube. Don't over fill it.

Remember, what it reads cold is quite different from what it reads hot. So check it with the engine warm and while it is running.

There is a little "cross-hatched" area on the dipstick. The fluid should be in that area somewhere. Preferrably at the top. That whole area is "1 pint wide".

If the dipstick reads at the bottom of the cross-hatch you need a pint. If it's below the cross-hatch, only put in 1 pint and then let the oil warm up a bit and check again.

Its been awhile, but can recollect that tranny fluid measures differently if hot or cold...... say at bottom of stick level cold - yet at top of stick level hot - checking each with the car in park and the engine running. So if you top it off cold - it will be overfilled while running hot. For sure, just 4 oz. of tranny fluid can have an effect on the level. Paper dixie cup makes good measuring device.

Color of tranny fluid is important too..... brown is burnt fluid and should be changed. Fluid thats cloudy or opaque (water in the system?) should be changed too.

And if you decide on tranny fluid change, there are a couple of tricks involved.... such as lining up the torque converter to drain it too and also accessing the tranny cooler in the radiator.

FYI: My dipstick is not cross-hatched, merely 2 horizontal level lines on it, I believe the lower one is for "Cold" and the other for "Hot" and, of course, I warm it up and check the "Hot" level.
