1974 230 (W115) noises

Okay . . . back again. After I got my driveline fixed (no more vibration now) and u-joints replcaced, on my way home to Texas I heard what sounded like a chain being dragged under the car. After getting home and getting her up on jackstands, I found the problem towards the back of the driveshaft (near the rearend). I think (but I'm not sure) that this is the C.V. joint and I think I just need to replace the C.V. boot, but I'm not sure. What it looks and feels like is one of the metal rings that's supposed to go around the driveshaft and towards the rearend broke. This is the first I've heard of a "metal-chain-being-dragged" noise (read about the clicking noise), and I'm looking for some guidance. From what I've seen, I can buy a new C.V. boot kit for about $30, but I want to make sure that is what the problem is. Please help!

Also, as a bonus, I bottomed out today on a dip (that wasn't posted) and punctured my oil pan. I can replace that no problem, but if the car feels like it drags too easily on dips does that mean I need to replace some shocks or springs? Thanks for the help.
