What is an M108

I see some references to an M108 seeminly installed only in a W108. What car has an M108 and what are the specifics of this engine? For my part I think folks transpose digits and mean M180 as is the engine I believe came in the 66-67 250S. After an internet search, it's hard to believe that many people are wrong so maybe I'm wrong?

Thanks,
Sixto

Sixto, check out your EPC. When you get to the thrid screen with all the models, type M for engine in the "enter item" location, then check out engines #21 and #22. Sho nuff there is an M108. Now to find out what it is.

EDIT: a quick look it appears the M108 was installed in the 250S. A 6 cyl, which also shows an application for French models as well as US models.

So far they are. The fire near Temecula started Sunday afternoon, I left Sunday morning and had voice mail waiting from the wifey as soon as I landed. The Eagle fire started under 2 miles from the house, couldn't decide which way it was going to burn, then settled on burning east away from the house. That put it heading directly toward the horses. Before reaching the horse property, the fire has turned southeast missing the horses. As of last night the family, dogs and horses are all safe and doing OK.

Thanks for asking.

hey Mike...

Where does one procure the EPC?? I have the CD you mention and have found particular pieces quite useful though I miss leafing through a paper manual, something pleasantly tactile about a book of knowledge

Mike:

Glad to hear it missed you!

Makes me glad I live were I do -- all I have to worry about is the Mother of All Earthquakes when the New Madrid goes again -- appearantly last time on top of the Mississippi river flowing backwards to fill Reelfoot Lake, the ground wave was visible by the falling trees, and standing horses were knocked down. Ground wave was reported as being 4-6 ft high in places!

Should be fun, eh?

Peter

Peter, Been through plenty of earthquakes in California...they can be kinda fun, especially far away from the epicenter. I much prefer hurricanes, mostly because you know they are coming...with plenty of warning.

kpb, the EPC's are Electronic Parts Catalogues and those can be found on eBay quite often. One word about them though is that you need to have twin CD-rom drives, or a virtual CD-drive, because both disks have to run at the same time. Not the easiest thing to navigate but having a good idea of the general assemblies helps to locate the parts.

If you install the EPC as a server and copy the data to your hard disk, it's a straight forward install with only one CD drive and you'll not need to look back at the disk.

If the installation fails at any point, you have to dig through the registry and remove all references to the directories created by the install (like bhroot & bhdata), and also look for a file dumped in the system folder (again, search for bhroot & bhdata) before you can try the installation again.

How much has to come off to install a newer version of the EPC?

Thanks,

There is an uninstall utility on the CD that takes care of that for you. In the INSTALL\MISC folder, called BHUNINST.EXE. Just double click on it from Windoze Explorer and it will clean up everything. And it even works on partial installations, which I've found handy lately.

One thing about installing the EPC in server mode, it seems to require a connection to a network in order to work. On my new laptop with XP Pro, it can't share anything with itself unless a network connection is active.

I have XP on my laptop. To run the EPC while on the road I picked up a program called "Virtual Machines" or something to that effect (I'll double check when I get home). The program allows me to create a number of virtual drives, I simply make a separate drive for each EPC disk and run the program as if operating two cd-rpm drives. Works super fast that way, plus I can toggle between the EPC and the forum - something I have a hard time doing on my desk top.

Now that you mention it, yeah. I forgot about those. Though it seems to be 105mm. The M109 was the 155mm.
