220D engine interchange

I finally got my 1970 220D started and driving yesterday.

I ended up installing an OM616 out of a 1975 240D with an automatic. The swap was rather straight forward. everything matched up cept for the cooland temp sensor. I took special care when installing the flywheel/clutch assembly from the old om615 to the new om616, by first rotating both engines to TDC #1 cyl. Then I marked an arrow at the top of the flywheel indicating up.
Then I simply bolted it up. Seems to have worked for me. The 220D idles quite smooth for a diesel. and smooth at RPM.

Still got to do some cable/rod adjusting before its street ready (Cant Wait!!) Ive driven the car around the block a few times and its wonderfull!!!...

Now. What to do with the old OM615... I know some people like like to throw them in flat fender jeeps with T18 trannies.. Id like to do this once I rebuild the 615.. Anyone out there try it?
