Wheel center caps -- any way . . .
. . . to put them on without removing the wheels?
I've bought a set of the 2002-style center caps (silver, with chrome ring and star) from Perf. Products. I did it also for my 420SEL, but I waited until it was time to rotate the tires, then had the shop put them on. Should I do that now, or is there some clever trick to getting the old caps off and the new ones on without dismounting each wheel? Thanks,

I've tried to take it off using an eyeglasses screw driver (the smallest one). I was able to pop one out, but I nicked my wheel a bit. So I did not continue with the other 3.
I would wait until you rotate and balace the tires again. If you can't wait, go to Costco. It's only $16 (rotate and balance) all 4 tires. |

If you don't need/want the old caps then just shove a screwdriver thru the plastic and pop them off the car while the rim is still mounted; then pop in your new ones. That what I did. Caps are only like 4-5$ each new...even less for the old style ones.
