Hi Luke:
I wish to upgrade from the stock 15" 25mm offset 6.5" wide wheels on my 1987 300SDL to a 16" Dia. 7.5" wide wheel. What is the optimum offset for this wheel and what range of offsets would be 'safe' to avoid clearance problems.

you MB was seriously under wheeled ....

you can easily run a 7.5" width with a 23mm - 25mm offset with no issues
