Need advice for new tires for 98 C230...

I had the Michellin MXV4+ and they were a great tire. Now I'm hearing I should go with a Bridgestone Turenza LS-H tire. Does anyone out there know if these are the 2 to decide on are should I consider others. BTW, I got a price of 500 for the Bridgestones with mounting, balancing, valve stems and lifetime balance/rotation included with all taxes. The Michellins would set me back $535 for everything included. What are the suggestions out there? Thanks.

I really like the Turanza better than the Michelin and I see no reason to spend more money for a tire which IMO is not as good

I REALLY like the Nitto NT460, they are an excellent tire for around $52 - seem to be a good balance between performance and treadwear. I still run Pirelli's on another car, but at the price they want, and the fact that Pirelli seems bent on discontinuing 14 inch sizes (DaRniT#!) I'll use Nitto next time. I really do not like Michelin prices or their tires either.
see http://www.discounttiredirect.com
I have used the Tire Rack also but I don't like all the cookies they serve when I click on their website.
When I order from discounttiredirect I pay no sales tax (they are located in Nevada and Texas) then I take them to Costco for mounting and balancing. I remove and reinstall the wheels myself. If you have anyone install wheel on your car, tell them you want them to use a torque wrench else they may use air drivers and the lug bolts may get overtightened making it hard to remove, plus the brake discs may get warped.

Thanks for the BAD news!
That was one of the best things going, they fix flats for members too, regardless of whether they sold the tire or not, unless they recinded that policy too.

Costco Tire Shop sucks

I called Costco to verify this, first I went thru the number selscion process until I found the way to call the tire shop. I pressed the digit and a man answered in an out of breath voice, "tireshop we will be with you in just a minute"
After more than twelve minutes of listening to a recording that was a continuous schpiel about the advantages of getting an executive membership and receiving a check for some percentage of the $$ I spent there, blah blah blah, with no response yet from the harried salesperson, I hung up
I always hated the inefficient way they handle their tire customers, so everybody that can, Avoid Costco for tires! They are too expensive anyhow, the Tire Rack beats them on price anyhow
I guess its back to America's Tires for installs. They have always done well!

I am also considering new tires for my 1998 C230. first let me say that if you like those Mercedes Benz wheel weights, go to a dealer and ask for them speciffic, or make sure a shop knows MB's and offers them.
I presently run the Michelin MXV Green Energy H rated. I like these even appreciate their snow capability, and unlike what I have read from others I think they are excellent in the rain. I need only replace two tires and at about $108 each I was thinking maybe change all four for the new Yokahama Avid db's.
A high performance four season in 205/60/15.
I think you should check out the Yokahama db's at around 69/tire
