Hi,
Anyone using Revos? Love my MXV4s, but they lose a lot of wet/snow traction as they age, and Revos claim not to. Just wondering if the performance difference was large or small? Thanks, Sly |

As any tire gets less tread-depth it will lose both wet and snow traction. There are those who advocate replacing tires before the legal limit (2/32's legal min). I've heard/read that for really rainy climates that 3/32nd's is an acceptable legal min and 4/32nd's for snow traction.
Recently Bridgestone has debuted the dual layer tread compound on various models. I've not driven them full vs worn or seen any objective data on that yet but it is possible it would do better all things being equal. The physics of less tread-depth stays the same no matter what you are driving. On light snow you might get better traction with the bridgestones, but on deep snow I'd think physics would override tread compound and the deeper tread would win. New tires of either model will probably help you snow traction more than anything. You can always get a second set of MXV4's that you use in winter then swap back to the half worn ones come spring. Or a true winter tire for winter and keep the MXV4's for non-snow seasons. Hope this helps...Lee |
