84 300SD Can I mount 17" tyres?

Hi,

I was wondering if it is possible to mount 17" tyres on my SD? Will I need to change the rims?

Thanks.

Are you asking if you can mount a 17 inch tire on a 14 inch rim, because if so, that is a definite no. You can though mount a 17 inch tire on a 17 inch rim. You will have to drop down to probably around maybe a 50 or 45 series tire though. But you should be able to fit rims as big as 19s on the sd, maybe even a 20 inch rim if you use the new 25 series tires. But back to the 17s, the numbers on the tire would read similar to this. 205/45/17 205 represents the tire with in millimeters I believe, 45 is the sidewall height, and 17 represents the size rim the tire is to be mounted on.
