ContiExtremeContact Spliting??

Luke or anyone....

I was swapping my all-season to my winter tires when one of my Conti's has multiple splits on the inner sidewall.
The tires I have all around are the Continental ContiExtremeContact Size: 235/40WR18 Blackwall
WR Speed Rated.

All of the other tires are fine. The splits are all the way to the next layer of the tire and are all the exact same type of split. I though it might be somethign else, maybe damage from the road, but none of the other tires have this and the split are not perfectly straight as if a knife or other sharp object.

Anyone ever experience this??? It's got me concerned. I know I didn't get the Road Hazard gauruntee but something like this is not supposed to happen to a tire on it's own. The tires have exactly 20,000 on them with a lot of highway and not over or under inflated...

I'll try to take a picture this week...

when you submit the pictures, can you also tell us where the tire was manufactured - it tells you on the sidewall

Lots of pictures, [*56K beware*]

Here are the pictures guys I stated I was going to take. These series also has a picture of the amount of tread still left on the tire and the tread pattern being fairly even all around. These tires have traveled 20,000 miles.

Please tell me Luke if anything can be done via PM.

Those tires still have a lot of tread left. I think you should file a warranty claim through Continental USA.

I had a set of Yokohama on my father's 1987 Pontiac 6000LE. All four tires were cracking along the sidewalls. I call up Yokohama customer service. The service representative told me to go the local Yokohama dealer to have it verify. It gave me a prorated credit on the remaining treadlife.

Interesting that all the cuts are on the inside of the tires. Looks like some suspension or sheet metal damage. I would remount them and check to see if the tire is being cut by something back there. judging by the length of the cuts it may be something that cuts under load.
Just my 2 cents
