BFG g-Force Sport

I am looking at a set of Lorinser 17" rims, with 245/45/17 tires on them. When I have to replace them, I need a good tire, with an affordable price.

I like this tire here, but the reviews I see say its for a sport compact. Would it be ok to put that on my 380 SEL? What does a load rating of "SL" mean? Its not on tire rack.

OT: Does Tire Rack seem finicky, and slow to load at times to anyone?

Thanks,
MIke

Mike.

For the answer to `SL` click on the `here` link you provided and then click on the `spec` link, then click on the `load rating` title at the top of the column. the page that opens describes SL as meanng Standard Load` and deals with load rating and inflation pressure.

Cool, thanks.

Does anyone have an opinion on the tires though?

if your running an older SEL you have to think if going to wide heavy 17" wheels is going to shorten the life of your wheel bearings and suspension linkage points.

next BFGoodrich is making a lot of tires geared toward tuner cars, rounded shoulders agressive tread patterns that aren't geared toward noise reduction or reduced trammeling - like a tramline the tires catch on highway expansion joints and follow them.

have you read the post on the tire forum about clamshell vs. radial sectioned tire construction?

just some stuff to consider. MICHELIN RULE!!

I knew that Michelin owned BFG, does Michelin own or have a percentage of Toyo tires?

I was going to buy BFG's for my Mercedes, I thought if I purchased Michelin they would have been made in Japan or Europe, but they happened to be made in the USA and they are fantastic.
